RTX subsidiary Pratt & Whitney plans to invest $206 million to expand business operations in Columbus, Georgia, that provide geared turbofan engine support for military and commercial aircraft operators.

Pratt & Whitney said Tuesday it expects to create 400 new jobs through 2028 under the expansion initiative and enable its local facilities to overhaul 400 GTF products annually.

The engine builder has approximately 2,000 employees at its Georgia campus, which comprises the Columbus Engine Center and Columbus Forge. The first facility maintains GTF, F117 and F100 engines, while the second facility manufactures the compressor airfoils and nickel and titanium forgings that are part of the engines.

As part of the expansion move, Pratt & Whitney will add 81,000 square feet of space, as well as new machinery and equipment, to the engine center.

The business also intends to collaborate with Georgia QuickStart for employee recruitment and training.
