Elbit Systems‘ U.S. business arm will create a maritime target tracking prototype under a Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific contract in support of the Information Warfare Research Project of the U.S. Navy.
Under the prime award, Elbit Systems of America said Monday it will also demonstrate its artificial intelligence-powered autonomy prototype’s ability to automatically recognize target and report its presence during simulated maritime operations over the next twelve months.
The prototype is also equipped with undersea payload delivery feature and input from Sparton, Logos Technologies, Alare Technologies and Nauticus Robotics.
“Elbit America’s advanced prototype will enhance distributed maritime operations by employing attritable multi-domain unmanned systems that can collaborate autonomously to identify and report targets of interest, while operating in contested environments,” remarked Jeff Hoyle, vice president of maritime business at Elbit America.
The IWRP is envisioned to help the Navy implement its operational architecture in support of the Department of Defense’s Joint All Domain Command and Control strategy.
