A new Deltek analysis shows that the U.S. Air Force’s spending on other transaction agreements for cybersecurity platforms dropped by 15 percent from $134 million in fiscal year 2021 to $113 million in FY 2022.
FY 2022 spending level remains 30 percent above the service branch’s FY 2020 level, which stands at $86 million, John Slye, senior advisory research analyst at Deltek, wrote in the market analysis report published Thursday.
The Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, particularly the C3I/Networks directorate, emerged as the top cybersecurity-related OTA spender in the past three fiscal years, posting $297.4 million in total spending between FY 2020 and FY 2022.
According to the analysis, the Air Force Research Laboratory spent $9.25 million on cybersecurity initiatives using OTAs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the last three years.
Slye said he expects the service branch’s spending on cyber efforts using OTAs to recover in FY 2023 as it advances the use of commercial technologies to address cyber-related challenges.
