The U.S. Air Force awarded Curtiss-Wright a $24 million contract to supply flight test instrumentation equipment for the F-35 aircraft.
The materials will be used to support Nellis Air Force Base’s F-35 Technology Refresh 3 program, which involves hardware and software upgrades to the fighter plane, the company said Monday.
Curtiss-Wright’s FTI technology is used in the service branch’s distributed FTI system for testing and evaluating the aircraft’s configurations in the program. The platform is expected to support modernization in displays, computer processors and future capabilities.
The project is being performed at the company’s Defense Solutions division located in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
Curtiss-Wright CEO Lynn Bamford welcomed the work to deliver the company’s aerospace instrumentation tool to support the F-35 TR-3 program’s flight tests.
“The receipt of this contract reflects our long-standing relationships and ongoing collaboration with the F-35 Joint Program Office and U.S. Flight Test Range engineers and personnel,” added the previous Wash100 awardee.
