General Dynamics‘ information technology business subcontracted CAE‘s defense and security arm for $455 million to help carry out its flight training services work with the U.S. Army.
CAE said Tuesday that it will supply full-flight simulators and operate new training devices as part of the 12-year, $1.7 billion Flight School Training Support Services contract awarded to General Dynamics Information Technology in late March.
FSTSS is a helicopter simulation training program at the Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Novosel, Alabama. GDIT was selected as the lead vendor to provide technical education and simulation technologies to Initial Entry Rotary Wing and graduate-level pilots, as well as their crews and units.
CAE was tapped to build and deliver simulators for the CH-47F Chinook and Black Hawk helicopters. The company will own, operate and implement necessary software configurations on new and existing training devices.
The contracting activity is the Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation.
