Bechtel executive Brian Hartman will serve as project director for its Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant project in support of the Department of Energy.
Hartman, who currently serves as Bechtel’s senior vice president and corporate engineering and technology manager, assumes the post from the late Valerie McCain, Bechtel said Thursday.
In his new role, Hartman will lead the WTP team responsible for commissioning the low-activity waste facility at the DOE Hanford Site in Washington. He will also have oversight of engineering, designing and procuring a facility to treat high-level waste at the site.
John Howanitz, president of Bechtel’s nuclear, security and environmental business, said Hartman’s leadership experience and expertise on complex projects will help move the WTP project forward.
Under the WTP project, Bechtel is in charge of the design, construction and commissioning of a radioactive waste treatment plant on behalf of the DOE.
