Inmarsat’s government business arm concluded cross-country demonstrations of its L-band Tactical Radio service for U.S. government customers at its headquarters in Reston, Virginia, and in two other locations in Colorado and North Carolina.
Inmarsat Government said Tuesday it worked with L3Harris Technologies, Collins Aerospace, Thales Defense and Security and Spectra Group to demonstrate the interoperability and capability of its L-TAC service to deliver satellite-based beyond line of sight communications to users of ultra high frequency and very high frequency radios across various domains.
L3Harris, Collins Aerospace and Thales provided six different types of radios and Spectra offered its Slingshot applique for the multisite demonstration of the L-TAC service, which was delivered through Inmarsat’s Elera L-band network.
Inmarsat said the demonstration provided an opportunity to showcase to government customers the capability of L-TAC to reinforce the Department of Defense’s UHF satellite communications system and Mobile User Objective System and deliver digital radio frequency over internet protocol capabilities.
