A Department of Homeland Security directorate has selected seven start ups to build software bill of materials-based products to help the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency gain visibility into the software supply chain.
Under the Silicon Valley Innovation Program, the companies will work as a cohort to create a multi-format SBOM translator and a software component identifier translator, both to be delivered as foundational open-source software libraries, DHS Science and Technology Directorate said Thursday.
The awardees are:
- AppCensus
- Chainguard
- Deepbits Technology
- Manifest Cyber
- Scribe Security
- TestifySec
- Veramine
Each company secured phase 1 other transaction award as part of the Software Supply Chain Visibility Tools topic call released in July 2022.
“DHS is tapping into the startup community to develop technology that will shine a light on risks within supply chains and bolster the overall cybersecurity of organizations,” said Melissa Oh, managing director of the SVIP initiative.
