Space exploration-focused company Voyager Space has acquired ZIN Technologies, a provider of human-rated spaceflight systems and monitoring services, propulsion and other offerings.
The acquisition marks a milestone in Voyager Space’s efforts to grow its space infrastructure and technology capabilities to support the development of Starlab, a continuously crewed, free-flying commercial space station, the Denver, Colorado-based organization announced on Monday.
“ZIN’s aerospace expertise, strong reputation in the industry and legacy working with NASA and the ISS, makes them a perfect fit for Starlab and the growing Voyager Space technology ecosystem,” said Voyager Space President and Chief Operating Officer Matthew Kuta.
He added that ZIN has already delivered capabilities to Starlab and served as a founding leadership member of the George Washington Carver Science Park – the heart of the Starlab operation.
Dylan Taylor, chairman and CEO of Voyager Space, said the company recently opened its first GWC Science Park facility at The Ohio State State University and is excited to work with ZIN to foster its relationship with the Ohio aerospace industry.
The acquisition, he noted, marks Voyager Space’s seventh since January 2020.
For over five decades, ZIN has worked alongside NASA to deliver systems and engineering support for numerous launch vehicles, low-Earth orbit infrastructure initiatives and spacecraft, such as the U.S. Space Shuttle, the MIR space station, the International Space Station, Dream Chaser and Starlab.
As a longtime developer of microgravity research equipment, ZIN has contributed to over 400 research activities on the ISS and has assisted with human-rated structural monitoring systems for the Lunar Gateway as part of NASA’s Artemis program.
ZIN also has a history of developing space-rated hardware and rendezvous, docking and related capabilities, which will pair with Voyager Space’s portfolio to support Starlab.
