Kratos to Produce Aerial Targets for Navy, Foreign Clients Under $50M Contract - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The U.S. Navy has awarded Kratos Defense & Security Solutions a $49.6 million contract to manufacture and deliver high-subsonic, recoverable aerial target systems to the service branch and the governments of Canada and Australia.

For the full rate production Lot 4 work, Kratos will provide 55 units of the BQM-177A target including 55 rocket-assisted takeoff attachment kits, 277 mission kits as well as technical and administrative data, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Approximately $48.8 million and $814,677 will be obligated from fiscal 2023 and 2021 Navy weapons procurement funds, respectively, at the time of award. 

The Naval Air Systems Command was the contracting activity and expects the company to complete work by April 2024.

Fifty-six percent of work will occur in California, 20 percent in Texas, and the rest in Florida, Virginia, Kansas, Oregon and various other locations within the U.S.
