Rob Carey, president of Cloudera Government Solutions, said he believes the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Data Strategy Implementation Plan requires intensive involvement and alignment among the chief information officer, chief information security officer and the chief data officer.
In an interview on Fedscoop’s Daily Scoop Podcast, he stated the C-suite and their teams must have common objectives to execute the I-Plan’s lines of effort.
To make sure that the agency is headed toward the right direction in its data strategy, Carey suggested that DISA create proofs of concept to illustrate success of individual functions such as logistics, financial management, research and development, or cyber.
The C-suite should work toward a common outcome and aim for repeatable solutions and intermediate milestones so that they can easily assess if they are on track in executing the I-Plan, he explained.
Aside from the leadership team, Carey added that DISA’s workforce should be educated on being data driven in terms of generic and function-specific applications.
