The Defense Innovation Unit issued a commercial solution opening for the development of an improved and scalable system for liquid and solid waste disposal intended to help the Department of Defense achieve its goal of utilizing additional energy sources.
DIU is looking for hardware and software innovations for expeditionary and fixed waste disposal systems capable of assisting in the generation of field-ready energy for warfighters.
The innovation should be able to handle various forms of waste, including medical waste, hazardous waste, as well as munitions and explosives, among others.
The system should also be able to build on its capacity to be able to support 15 to over 500 service members.
Interested parties may submit their proposals until Feb. 10.
