David Joyce, a four-decade veteran of General Electric, has been appointed chairman of AE Industrial Partners’ venture capital investment platform HorizonX.
He will also serve as a strategic adviser to the private equity firm across its investment portfolio, AEI said Wednesday.
AEI HorizonX invests in startups operating in aerospace, defense, enterprise and industrial markets.
“I look forward to David’s partnership as we continue to build the AEI HorizonX platform, and more broadly with AEI’s specialized market reach. His understanding of the potential for engineering and technology innovation across the industrial landscape is a critical skill that will benefit AEI’s mission,” said David Rowe, managing partner at AEI.
Joyce is former vice chairman of General Electric and president and CEO of GE Aviation. Under his leadership, GE Aviation advanced programs in several areas including engine design, additive manufacturing, sustainable and hybrid fuel systems and digital tools.
Joyce is a director at Boeing and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
