A Leonardo subsidiary has secured a $110.5 million contract modification to produce 26 additional TH-73A training helicopters for the U.S. Navy.
The firm-fixed-price award exercises an option for the lot IV production of the AgustaWestland Philadelphia-built advanced helicopter training system, Leonardo said Saturday.
Eighty percent of contract work will take place in Philadelphia and the remaining 20 percent will occur in Texas and other locations outside the continental U.S., according to the Department of Defense.
AgustaWestland secured a potential $648.1 million contract with a base value of $176 million in January 2020 to deliver up to 130 TH-73A helicopters in support of student pilot training efforts of the Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard.
The company delivered the first TH-73A helicopter to the Navy in June 2021.
The service branch will use the TH-73A to train rotary-wing and intermediate tiltrotors.
