Maximus has been awarded a five-year, $100 million contract by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to enhance the CDC-INFO program, which delivers crucial health information to millions across the U.S.
The contract stipulates that Maximus will deliver elevated technology and operational improvements to the program, the McLean, Virginia-based organization announced on Monday.
Teresa Weipert, general manager of federal services at Maximus and 2022 Wash100 Award winner, commented on the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic and the company’s motivation to equip the CDC for future challenges.
“We are proud of what we’ve accomplished with CDC and look forward to evolving the CDC-INFO program through the use of emerging technologies so the agency is prepared for whatever may come next,” Weipert stated.
During the contract’s lifespan — which includes a one-year base period and four option years — Maximus is expected to provide digitally-enabled improvements to the program to ensure the communication of health information to the public, providers and federal partners is accurate, up-to-date and consistent. To enhance the customer experience, the company will also use real-time data and call analytics to discover trends and track and improve customer satisfaction.
“This CDC-INFO program will benefit from our experience serving millions of Americans through the CDC-VAX program, as we will focus on improving the user experience for those seeking information and effectively implement the technologies needed to make that happen,” said Maximus Senior Vice President Lisa Slaughter.
Maximus has previously worked with the CDC under a $951 million contract awarded by the General Services Administration. That project entailed Maximus’ support of the CDC-INFO program and creation of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Assistance Hotline, also known as CDC-VAX. The enterprise was honored for the implementation of the hotline in the 2022 Service to the Citizen Awards.
In 2020, Maximus established a public health department to expand its relationships with agencies in the field. The unit aims to assist the government in preparing for and responding to public health events.
