The Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory is set to deploy a new integrated software and hardware platform built by SambaNova Systems for deploying artificial intelligence capabilities for science workloads.
The DataScale system will be available through Argonne Leadership Computing Facility’s AI Testbed, a collection of AI-accelerator machines designed to advance the use of the emerging technology for science use cases, SambaNova said Monday.
“The new capabilities and increased memory capacity of SambaNova’s DataScale will open the door to a wider range of AI for science applications involving large AI models and massive datasets,” commented Venkat Vishwanath, data science team lead at the ALCF.
Marshall Choy, senior vice president of product at SambaNova, said the multi-year deal for the new DataScale system expands the company’s partnership with the national research laboratory and opens new experiments and discoveries to scientific research organizations.
SambaNova’s previous generation of AI systems has been supporting studies and experiments in edge computing, environment and climate change and life sciences at Argonne.
