Jon Kirchner, a 30-year industry executive, has been named chief product officer at geospatial intelligence company BlackSky Technology.
He will be part of BlackSky’s executive leadership team and oversee the delivery of intelligence and dynamic monitoring products and services to customers, the company said Wednesday.
“Jon’s leadership will play a critical role as we advance our product portfolio and accelerate our customer reach to capitalize on the growing demand for BlackSky’s products and services in the government and commercial sectors,” said BlackSky CEO Brian O’Toole.
“His operational and product leadership experience in space, industrial automation, and data analytics will be vitally important during the next chapter of BlackSky’s success,” O’Toole added.
Kirchner will bring to the role his decades of leadership experience in product development and management, software, business operations, sales and marketing.
Before BlackSky, he advised companies on investments in satellites and space-based infrastructure, industrial technology, smart infrastructure and robotics, among other areas. His industry career included senior leadership roles at Globecomm Systems, Arqiva, GeoOptics and Loral Skynet.
