A Maximus subsidiary is deploying three additional mobile units to facilitate medical examinations meant to help the Department of Veterans Affairs determine retired service personnel’s eligibility for disability benefits.
The company said Tuesday its Veterans Evaluation Services business administers eye, hearing and oral exams as well as general health checkups through the VES fleet.
“This expansion of our mobile clinic program is another critical step forward in delivering services to veterans,” said Teresa Weipert, general manager of federal services at Maximus and a 2022 Wash100 Award winner.
Weipert noted the 2021 acquisition of VES helped Maximus position itself as a health assessment provider to veterans on behalf of the government.
The subsidiary will conduct required exams for homeless veterans who will attend a claims clinic event slated to take place Thursday in Denver. The Veterans Benefits Administration and the VA regional office in the city will host the event.
