CACI International has landed a $174 million task order under a Department of Defense Information Analysis Center contract to perform various research, development and analysis duties for a U.S. Navy ship maintenance operation.
The award will find the CACI team helping to optimize and sustain vessels for the Navy’s Military Sealift Command through tests and evaluations, life cycle engineering and quality assurance planning, among other responsibilities, the Reston, Virginia-based company said Thursday.
John Mengucci, president and CEO of CACI, explained that the company’s work under the contract will aid the U.S. military personnel stationed throughout the globe who make use of MSC’s “agile logistics, strategic sealift, and specialized missions.”
Three-time Wash100 Award winner Mengucci went on to surmise that CACI’s efforts will be instrumental in successful mission completion by MSC.
At locations in the regions surrounding Washington, D.C. and Norfolk, Virginia, CACI will offer technical expertise and customized services to make financially prudent naval ship machinery, systems, equipment and structural performance improvements. Additional dispatches to international locations under the contract will occur as needed.
CACI is also expected to analyze MSC systems and processes in order to confirm and increase the safety, consistency, availability and preparedness of ships, while conducting condition-based maintenance research and analysis.
The task order is part of the DOD IAC’s multiple-award contract vehicle, an initiative designed to enrich the Defense Technical Information Center’s catalog of knowledge and resources, as well as that of the science and technology community at large. The program is a function of the 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron of the U.S. Air Force.
CACI is frequently awarded task orders under the DOD IAC’s MAC vehicle; the most recent of which was a $54.6 million award to help the Army Futures Command with R&D for a cross-functional team.
