Textron‘s Airborne Tactical Advantage Company subsidiary has secured a five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from the U.S. Navy to provide Mirage F1 aircraft to conduct chase flight services in support of the F-35 program.
Three Mirage F1 planes will be used to support F-35 aircraft with flight operations set to begin late this year or early 2023 at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas, Textron said Wednesday.
The Mirage F1s will fly for around 600 hours annually and perform airspace clearance and aircraft systems checks.
ATAC, a tactical flight training and adversary aggressor services provider for the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, previously conducted F-35 chase services in 2019 and 2020 from the ATAC Adversary Center of Excellence in Fort Worth, Texas.
