Lockheed Martin has unveiled a new mobile application designed to provide updates on the Orion spacecraft that will facilitate NASA’s upcoming human spaceflight program.

Explore Orion is a free app that features a special section for the Callisto technology demonstration that will fly on the spacecraft for the uncrewed Artemis I mission launching aboard the Space Launch System rocket, Lockheed said.

In a separate announcement, NASA said Callisto, a vehicle-connected crew interface technology demonstration, has been installed into Orion’s center console to showcase how commercial platforms could assist future missions to explore deep space.

Callisto brings Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant and Cisco’s Webex video communication and collaboration software tool to the spacecraft’s first mission.

Explore Orion will enable users to submit comments and questions to Callisto that will be displayed on its screen throughout the Artemis I mission.
