HII plans to hire up to 2,000 additional full-time personnel to support shipbuilding operations at the company’s 800-acre facility in Mississippi.

Ingalls Shipbuilding division is looking to recruit pipefitters, structural welders and other skilled people who can help the business construct vessels for national security customers, HII said Thursday.

The business recently completed a project to modernize workspaces for shipyard personnel.

“With a shipbuilding legacy of nearly 84 years, Ingalls offers careers dedicated to a service mission — building ships that protect and defend our freedoms,” said Kari Wilkinson, president of Ingalls Shipbuilding.

HII noted it offers a competitive salary package, annual paid holidays and workforce development opportunities to shipyard employees.
