AT&T has partnered with charitable organization First H.E.L.P. to offer free mental health training for first responders throughout the U.S.
First H.E.L.P said Friday the partnership aims to provide up to 15 emergency response personnel the chance to join activities that promote well-being through a weeklong break as part of the Mission Ready Retreats program.
The first retreat, which took place during the month of May in Texas, had nine participants.
“We have designed this retreat in a way that combines research-based instruction on developing resilience and healthy living with an opportunity to recharge and reset in a peer-based environment,” said Robert Winner, retreat director at First H.E.L.P.
The nonprofit is scheduled to hold the next two peer-to-peer mentorship sessions later this month in Charles Town, West Virginia, and in October in Cle Elum, Washington state.
Each retreat allows first responders to engage in facilitated discussions, group events and individual mindfulness exercises.
AT&T, which supports Mission Ready Retreats through the telecommunication company’s FirstNet program, is helping the federal government build the first national public safety broadband network.
