An annual Deltek study has found that government contractors consider finding top talent as the primary challenge for their information technology departments over the next 12 months, followed by compliance with government requirements and implementation of new software systems.
Deltek surveyed 654 contractor personnel working in defense, IT, professional services, energy, engineering, research, transportation and health care sectors from March 8 to March 28 for the software provider’s 2022 Clarity GovCon Industry Study.
Forty-nine percent of respondents said they consider hiring more IT staff as the top initiative to address IT operations challenges.
The other top two efforts to address such challenges are developing new IT infrastructure and creating new security policies and procedures, according to the report.
When it comes to security challenges, 41 percent of the respondents said they experienced security issues that called for remediation or action.
The report also showed that 83 percent of IT respondents aim to achieve Level 2 or 3 under the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program and at least 50 percent plan to comply with CMMC requirements through self-reporting.
Deltek’s report also lists the top sector challenges and opportunities in the areas of business development, project and risk management, finance, manufacturing, contract management and procurement and human capital.
