Boeing has invested in NextFlex to expand the workforce development programs of the Flexible Hybrid Electronics Manufacturing Innovation Institute in nine regions where the company manufacturing hubs are located.

The FlexFactor and Flex2Future– the high school and community college-focused programs of NextFlex– will gain $1.1 million from Boeing to help reach 7,000 students in New Mexico, Alabama, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Texas, Arizona, Florida and Pennsylvania, the company said Friday.

FlexFactor seeks to inform high school students about the professional opportunities in the advanced manufacturing sector while Flex2Future looks to provide community college students with a “learn-and-earn” environment.

Boeing’s support for the initiatives will run for the next three years.

“Through innovative partnerships with organizations like NextFlex, we are helping to prepare military-connected students to be career-ready by improving how they learn and teaching them the skills they need to be successful in the workforce of the future,” said Leanne Caret, executive vice president at Boeing.

The FlexFactor program was earlier launched in Huntsville, Alabama, through the partnership of the company and NextFlex.
