Walsh Group‘s U.S. federal business arm has secured a potential $206 million contract from the U.S. Navy to build a hangar at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in North Carolina for maintenance work on the F-35B Lightning II aircraft.
Chicago-based Walsh Federal will construct a two-story, low-rise aircraft maintenance hangar that will include a high bay space as well as portions for crew and equipment and administrative operations of two squadrons, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
The firm-fixed-price contract has an initial value of $184.8 million and seven options that, if exercised, would raise it to its potential amount.
The contractor will conduct work in Havelock, North Carolina, through June 2025. It will have incremental funding starting with $50 million at the time of award.
The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Mid-Atlantic awarded the contract while the Navy’s construction funds will cover the expenses.
