Visit Wash100.com to cast a vote for Max Peterson as one of your TEN votes to advocate for your favorite leaders in the federal and government sectors before the upcoming April deadline.

Amazon Web Services announced in April 2021 that Max Peterson, a senior executive with more than three decades of expertise in the public sector as well as information technology (IT) experience, would succeed Teresa Carlson, a six-time Wash100 winner, in his current role.

In his statement, Peterson expressed his enthusiasm to lead AWS’ Public Sector business and drive the company’s capabilities for the future of U.S. government agencies as well as the education, nonprofits and healthcare sectors.

Most recently, Max Peterson shared his thoughts on the recent Build(Her) Conference in Washington, DC, which was hosted by Halcyon and sponsored by AWS, to bring together the women leaders from the public and private sectors to exchange ideas on the most significant questions and challenges involving government innovation, fundraising, resilience, and more.

In his blog post covering the conference, Peterson discussed the collaboration between Halcyon and AWS, including his tenure as a board member for Halcyon, that has driven and leveraged cloud capabilities to scale their ventures and innovate key principles and values since 2017.

“I’m proud of the progress being made through these initiatives, and am continuously inspired by the women in tech and founders who are paving the way for change,” Peterson emphasized. “I’m grateful to Halcyon for bringing us all together, so we can learn from one another, make meaningful connections, and c build stronger communities to keep this momentum going.”

During a recent interview, Peterson shared his thoughts about the significant changes that cloud capabilities and new technological capabilities are driving a new era in public sector innovation and how AWS is helping organizations across the globe turn to the cloud to run mission-critical applications and improve system agility, security and more.

In regards to the biggest challenges that AWS is dealing with in cloud adoption across the public sector, Max Peterson discussed how the recent pandemic has accelerated cloud adoption efforts, especially in the public sector, but cloud implementation remains a significant challenge across the globe because of traditional procurement approaches and a skills gap in various workforces.

In addition, Peterson announced the first AWS Innovation Studio back in Sept. 2021, located at the AWS Summit in Arlington, Virginia, to serve as a center for scaling and finding new ways to address the most pressing federal challenges across the globe, including climate change, sustainability, and education inequality.

Peterson explained that organizations will work with the AWS Innovation Studio to imagine, build, and share forward-thinking solutions with national and global impact, leveraging AWS’ wide range of technologies, including artificial intelligence, data science, and machine learning.

“The AWS Innovation Studio is part of our commitment to make sure public sector organizations have access to the best-in-class technology and innovation used by our private sector customers,” Peterson explained.

“I was excited to make this announcement today and look forward to working with mission-driven leaders to bring programs to life that improve how we develop solutions to help communities across the globe,” he added.
