Defense contractor Leidos has elevated two of its team members, Steve Cook and Paul Engola, to top positions within its Dynetics business.

Cook will serve as group president of Dynetics and Engola will be deputy group president of the wholly owned Leidos subsidiary, effective April 1, the company said Tuesday.

“I’m excited to see Steve and Paul grow the company’s footprint in the emerging national security space market, while delivering wins across the business,” commented Roger Krone, CEO and chairman of Leidos and a nine-time recipient of the Wash100 Award.

Succeeding Dave King as group president of Dynetics, Cook will concentrate on strategic growth in the subsidiary’s engineering, scientific information technology services within the national security, cybersecurity space and critical infrastructure sectors. Meanwhile, King will assist with the leadership transition and continue as a consultant for the company.

Krone also cited the asset of Cook’s “extensive experience and background,” which includes over two decades of service at NASA. While with the space agency, he was Ares Projects Office manager at Marshall Space Flight Center as well as director of Space Transportation Programs and Projects Office.

Cook’s most recent role was Dynetics deputy group president and Leidos Innovations Center operations manager. He began at the company as director of space technologies over a decade ago and rose to positions such as leader of launch systems, orbital spacecraft and analysis, planetary exploration and nanotechnology research.

Subsequently, Cook was president of Dynetics Technical Solutions unit, where he oversaw mechanical manufacturing, hypersonics, directed energy and other strategic operations.

Engola, on the other hand, formerly worked for Lockheed Martin, where he occupied a number of senior-level positions, including vice president of financial and data solutions and vice president of transportation and financial solutions.

For the last nearly six years, he has been at Leidos, first as senior vice president of transportation and financial solutions and most recently as executive vice president of the national security space business portfolio.

In his new position as deputy group president of Dynetics, Engola will spearhead operations of space surveillance, navigation and timing, missile warning and space situational awareness. His responsibilities will also entail driving technological growth for EO/IR payloads, advance signal and image processing algorithms and real-time embedded software.
