Slijepcevic took the helm at Cubic in January 2022. He brings to the position over 25 years of leadership and operational experience.

He was named to the president and chief executive roles as part of Cubic’s leadership transition that included the appointment of Mac Curtis, a 30-year industry veteran, as chairman of the San Diego-based defense and transportation contractor’s board. Curtis is former chairman of the board, president and CEO of Perspecta and a seven-time Wash100 Award winner.

“Now, with enhanced opportunities following completion of the go-private transaction, the Board is confident that Steve is the right leader for Cubic as the Company embarks on its next chapter. I look forward to working with Steve and the Board as Cubic captures the opportunities ahead,” said Curtis.

Slijepcevic noted that Cubic has a history of developing critical integrated platforms in support of customers’ mission critical needs.

“With a strong foundation in place and clear opportunities ahead, Cubic is at an exciting inflection point. I am excited to leverage my operational expertise and experience growing diversified businesses – in partnership with the talented Cubic team, Mac and the rest of the Board – as Cubic embarks on its next era of growth as a private company,” Slijepcevic said during his appointment.

Cubic, formerly a publicly traded company, went private in May 2021 after it was acquired by Veritas Capital and Evergreen Coast Capital, an affiliate of Elliott Investment Management, for approximately $3 billion.

Slijepcevic will help steer Cubic toward growth as the company operates with two business segments: Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions (CMPS) and Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS). CMPS provides networked command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities for defense, security, intelligence and commercial missions.

In addition, CMPS also offers live, virtual, constructive and game-based training platforms for U.S. and allied forces. CTS offers integrated systems for transportation and traffic management applications.

Prior to Cubic, Slijepcevic spent over 25 years at Honeywell Aerospace and was president of the electronic solutions business. In this role, he oversaw a $5 billion business segment with more than 6,000 employees providing avionics equipment and software for air transport, defense, space and business aviation.

He provided long-term strategic planning and helped execute the annual operating plan as the business unit delivers flight management systems, integrated cockpit systems, radar platforms, flight control electronics and other technology products to customers.

He also served as president of mechanical systems and components at Honeywell Aerospace and was responsible for facilitating the delivery of air conditioning and environmental control systems, engine bleed systems and oxygen and life support systems, among other products, to defense and commercial aviation clients.

Slijepcevic joined Honeywell Aerospace in 1995 and held roles of increasing responsibility, including chief commercial officer, vice president of Honeywell’s Embraer business, VP of navigation of sensors, VP of mechanical components and VP of integrated supply chain.

He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Purdue University and a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University.
