Since joining CACI in July 2020, Probert has led NSIS as it offers C4ISR, cybersecurity and space operations tech, among others, to defense, intelligence and federal government customers.
“I think my 30 years of diverse experience has really positioned me well for this role. I have a unique mix of engineering expertise combined with positions leading defense business and technology organizations. And that really matches up well with what we are focused on here,” he said during an Executive Spotlight interview with ExecutiveBiz, one of Executive Mosaic’s media properties.
He cited the NSIS team’s mission experience and national security expertise, as well as CACI’s acquisition and investment strategies as factors that drive continued company growth.
“Our portfolio is dedicated to harnessing the rich technology heritage from acquired companies like Bell Labs and Mastodon and leveraging decades of software expertise to offer software-driven tools and capabilities that meet the market where it is today, but also where it will be in the future,” noted the two-time Wash100 awardee.
The recently introduced CORIAN 2.0 and CORIAN Tactical platforms are part of the said portfolio. Both are meant for countering unmanned aircraft system-posed threats.
Commenting on the new additions to the company’s SkyTracker suite of counter-drone platforms, Probert said the offerings have features for detecting, tracking and addressing emerging threats to national security.
Some of CACI’s notable contracts are the potential nine-year, $496 million follow-on contract from the U.S. Air Force for the development and maintenance of equipment at the Ogden Air Logistics Complex in Utah under the Automated Test System Sustainment Initiative II, as well as the potential $376.4 million contract from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency for SAFFIRE Program support.
The company is also tasked to provide the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency with 40 optical communications terminals for inter-satellite links under a contract award to SA Photonics, which was acquired by CACI in December.
According to Probert, the contractor aims to have an annual production rate of several hundreds of optical terminals by boosting the manufacturing capabilities of its Florida facilities.
During the Spotlight interview, Probert talked about the national security challenges facing customers and how CACI provides offerings to meet mission requirements. He also discussed the key initiatives that the company is working on to address issues in electronic warfare and the electromagnetic landscape for the U.S. military and intelligence community.
“I’d say one of the biggest things to know about CACI is that we are world experts in signals intelligence. We spent a lot of time and effort honing that and bringing it to a focal point. We are positioning ourselves to allow software to logically come in and build to adapt. However, when you’re in the EW space it’s waveforms. It’s how you employ those waveforms and sense those same waveforms,” he said.
