Eclipse Global Connectivity, ST Engineering iDirect and Smiths Interconnect have collaborated to provide government and military aircraft with satellite communications capability to support airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
The Ka-band satcom capability combines iDirect’s Evolution Defense platform and 9800 AE+ airborne modem with Smiths Interconnect’s KaStream 5000 MK II parabolic antenna and can support uncrewed and manned platforms, the companies said in a joint release published Wednesday.
Eclipse will provide platform integration support, military-grade encryption and aircraft radome as an end-to-end systems integrator in the collaborative effort.
The satcom capability is interoperable with military and civilian Ka-band satellite constellations and will initially meet the beyond-line-of-sight requirements of a government unmanned system.
Marc Pinault, CEO of Eclipse Global Connectivity, said the three companies share a commitment to offering satellite connectivity to help government and military clients meet their mission objectives.
