Stephen Kovac, chief compliance officer and head of global government affairs at Zscaler, said he appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee roundtable Tuesday and highlighted how the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program enabled government agencies to immediately transition to the cloud during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“FedRAMP promotes cloud adoption across the federal government by providing standardized security and risk assessments for cloud service offerings based on a ‘certify once, use many times’ approach,” Kovac wrote in a blog post published Thursday.
He noted that the company backs the Federal Secure Cloud Improvement and Jobs Act, which seeks to improve FedRAMP, and the companion bill that has been passed by the House.
Kovac said the measure would encourage reuse of cloud service providers’ existing security authorizations by agencies.
“The FedRAMP bill would also boost resources for a small GSA program whose importance for agencies and industry partners has grown significantly as cloud adoption has accelerated across government,” he added.
