Leading bitcoin expert Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, will share his industry insights on the significant role digital currencies will play in the future of global economics and wealth storage during the Potomac Officers Club’s upcoming Digital Currency and National Security Forum.
In his role as CEO of MicroStrategy and chairman of its board of directors, Saylor has led the business intelligence and cloud-based services company in its most recent phase of notable growth with his bitcoin acquisition strategy.
In 2020, Saylor spearheaded MicroStrategy’s first $250 million investment in bitcoin as a treasury reserve asset in response to global macroeconomic factors.
According to Nasdaq, MicroStrategy is the largest publicly traded corporate owner of bitcoin in the world with over 122,000 bitcoin currently valued at over $6 billion.
Saylor is an advocate for the “Bitcoin Standard” and a key figure in the current conversation surrounding crypto currency as a world reserve asset. In a recent interview with Yahoo Finance Live, Saylor said he believes bitcoin has the potential to exponentially increase in value, and the rise will be driven by technology adoption and inflation.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Saylor is also a philanthropist. The Saylor Foundation has provided funding to initiatives including environmental conservation, children’s health and refugee relief, and his Saylor Academy has funded educational services for over 1 million students.
During the virtual event, Saylor will participate in a Fireside Chat with Juan Zarate, global co-managing partner and chief strategy officer for K2 Integrity, as well as former security advisor to President George W. Bush.
Additionally, National Cyber Director Chris Inglis will deliver the event’s keynote address to discuss the federal government’s position in regards to digital currencies as they continue to gain important ground across the globe.
