Matt Jones, former president of Sigma Defense Systems, will serve as the defense and intelligence contractor’s CEO, succeeding John Wilcox, who will become the executive chairman of its board of directors.

Jones said in a statement published Friday he will primarily focus on enabling company leaders to make a “positive, meaningful impact” on the critical missions of the customers in the Department of Defense and national intelligence agency customers.

Steven Lefkowitz, managing partner of Sigma Defense’s majority shareholder Sagewind Capital, commented, “Since joining early this year, Matt has consistently proven himself as an effective and inspiring leader whose approach is an ideal fit with Sigma Defense’s culture, and the company has a great future under his leadership.”

Prior to joining Sigma Defense in January, Jones served two years as president of SAP NS2‘s mission business, where he developed short and long-term goals, plans and strategies, and spearheaded the company’s integration of three acquisitions.

Jones also previously worked as president of TMA, where he led the company in several years of growth, culminating in its sale to SAP NS2.

In addition to his previous leadership roles at Boeing and Argon ST, Jones served in the U.S. Navy for eight years as a cryptologist on surface, subsurface and other special projects.
