Data from Space Capital shows that private investment deals within the space industry have amounted to $10.3 billion for the first three quarters of 2021, surpassing the $9.8 billion for all of last year, CNBC reported Thursday.
The New York-based venture capital firm estimates that investors injected $3.9 billion into businesses that develop satellites, launch vehicles and other space-related systems during the third quarter.
Space Capital expects the surge to continue in the fourth quarter, when transactions involving multiple special purpose acquisition companies are scheduled for completion.
Rocket Lab, BlackSky, Momentus, Redwire and Spire Global completed SPAC merger transactions in the August-October period.
