PointClickCare has received a government contract that requires it to provide data that will help the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention examine COVID-19 and other health issues affecting individuals residing in long-term care facilities.
The company said Tuesday its Lighthouse initiative will contribute de-identified patient data that CDC will use to analyze disease patterns, health outcomes, clinical guidelines and other public health aspects related to the facilities.
CDC will also use data insights to rate clinical treatments and monitor public health.
The company holds over two decades of real-world data and has a market share of over 5 million patients across the country. It offers insight into the health care of older adults via Lighthouse.
Jason Menges, vice president of national accounts at PointClickCare, said the data can help CDC learn more about individuals who are more vulnerable than others to COVID-19.
Aside from government agencies, Lighthouse data sources are also used by life sciences companies and industry advocates to gain aging population insights.
