NTT Data has received a contract from the Department of Justice to help modernize background checks by building a case management system.
The company said Wednesday the proposed platform will synchronize data from several federal systems and facilitate processing of federal submissions to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.
Under the contract, NTT Data will provide DOJ with disposition and prohibitor reporting service capabilities within a year using its Agile DevSecOps process.
Tammy McChain, senior vice president of federal health and civilian business at NTT Data, said the company will use its technological capabilities, experience and applied innovation to support DOJ’s modernization efforts.
“We look forward to creating an improved NICS reporting service and enabling the DOJ to reap the benefits of more accurate, real-time data that is properly correlated with relevant government offices, courts and law enforcement agencies,” McChain added.
The FixNICS Working Group, a collaboration between judicial and executive branches to help enhance firearm background checks, selected the company for the initiative to help DOJ comply with requirements outlined in the FixNICS Act of 2018.
