The U.S. Navy has selected Leidos for an effort that seeks to provide the Marines with a multi-domain radar for a contested environment as the current radio frequency radar assets are limited in mobility and prone to detection and attacks.
Leidos will work under a potential $49.4 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the MuDRaCE effort during a three-year base period and seven one-year extension options, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The initiative is aimed at deploying a survivable sensing network through a combination of legacy capability and enhanced, sensor fusion-based situational awareness. It also seeks to enable better interoperability and integration with new technologies.
The contractor will perform work in Reston, Virginia; Huntsville, Alabama; Longmont, Colorado; and Taunton and Fulton, Maryland.
The Office of Naval Research held a competitive procurement under the Long Range Broad Agency Announcement for Navy and Marine Corps Science and Technology.
