Geoffrey Hitchcock, former vice president of sales and business development at Vantage Robotics, has been named senior vice president of global defense solutions at drone software provider Red Cat Holdings.
He will be responsible for identifying business opportunities for the Golden Eagle unmanned aircraft system in the military sector and exploring potential public safety applications of the drone offering, Red Cat said Thursday.
Teal Drones, which Red Cat acquired in an all-cash transaction, developed Golden Eagle and is among the five domestic vendors authorized to offer small UAS products to the government.
“Being one of just a handful of companies approved by the Department of Defense is a significant advantage for us, and I look forward to helping us push aggressively to capture as many of these military contracts as possible going forward,” Hitchcock said.
He spent nearly 17 years at AeroVironment, where he previously served as director of international business development and logistics flight services.
Hitchcock supported U.S. Air Force special operations during his 22-year military service.
