Navy contract award

Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ Newport News Shipbuilding division has been awarded an $89.9 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification to continue industrial work on submarines operated by the U.S. Navy and its British counterpart.

The Virginia-based military shipbuilder will provide program management, engineering, yard planning, trade and technical services for underwater vessel facilities, availabilities and conversion efforts, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Naval Sea Systems Command expects contract work to conclude in September 2023.

The U.S. Navy will receive 98.8 percent of deliveries through the modification award and the U.K. government will account for the remaining 0.2 percent as part of a foreign military sales requirement.

Newport News Shipbuilding initially received a $454.1 million contract in December 2019 to help the Navy manage operational nuclear strategic and attack submarines.
