HawkEye 360 announced that its Cluster 3 satellites designed to geolocate radio frequency signals and deliver RF geospatial intelligence data to government and commercial customers have arrived at the Cape Canaveral launch site in Florida in preparation for its upcoming launch aboard Spaceflight’s SXRS-5 mission.
Cluster 3 consists of three satellites scheduled for liftoff as early as June and features capabilities that could help facilitate on-orbit investigations, HawkEye 360 said Monday.
Alex Fox, an executive vice president of HawkEye 360, said the preparation and launch of additional clusters of next-generation satellites seeks to increase the quality, quantity and timeliness of RF intelligence that the company delivers to clients.
“Cluster 3 will be a marked improvement to the array of capabilities we are able to offer and will help us and our partners identify new RF intelligence applications to expand our products and services,” added Fox.
HawkEye 360 plans to field seven more clusters of satellites for its baseline constellation between 2021 and 2022 to support security, defense and commercial applications. In March, the company announced that its Cluster 2 satellites achieved initial operating capability status.
