Telephonics has received a certification from the Department of Defense that validated the compliance of the company’s situational awareness system with the requirements of the Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System Identification Friend or Foe Program Office.
The Mode 5 Operationally Autonomous Surveillance System was granted a platform level certification after completing DOD AIMS 1201, 1202 and 1203 evaluation performed at Wallops Island, Virginia, and Farmingdale, New York, the company said Monday.
The week-long testing assessed Telephonics’ AN/UPX-44A active identification friend or foe technology and AN/UPR-4(V) 6-channel passive detection and reporting system and validated their compliance with DOD AIMS 17-1000 requirements.
M5OAS is designed to function as all-mode IFF/Air Traffic Control interrogator surveillance platform capable of operating with existing primary radar system, or independent of it.
“We were the first company to offer an All-Mode, DoD AIMS certified IFF interrogator and… the first single shelter unit to integrate both active and passive IFF/ATC surveillance solutions,” said David Lopez, vice president of surveillance systems at Telephonics.
