Palantir Technologies will provide its data as a service platform under a $32.5 million U.S. Air Force contract to support initiatives at the Department of the Air Force as well as the National Space Defense Center and the Combined Space Operations Center.
The Department of Defense said Friday the Palantir Gotham platform will be used to support the COVID-19 analysis and decision making efforts of DAF as part of the Project Brown Heron initiative.
Under the sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract, NSDC and CSpOC will also be provided with command and control capabilities and space situational awareness to support their operational users.
The Palantir Gotham platform is designed to integrate and transform data into a single, coherent data asset, enabling users to collaborate, share information and build off one another's work.
It can be configured to meet specific requirements, like how the platform used by DAF was set up to ingest data from department equipment, personnel, planning, health and other sources to form a common data foundation.
Work in Palo Alto, California, is expected to wrap up by the end of November.
The service branch is obligating $12.8 million from fiscal 2021 operation and maintenance funds and $4 million from research, development, test and evaluation budget at the time of award.
