The General Services Administration has declared its five-year, $5.5 billion Second-Generation Information Technology blanket purchase agreement as ready for business, two months after the agency re-awarded more than 70 positions on the governmentwide acquisition vehicle.
Laura Stanton, assistant commissioner in the GSA Office of Information Technology Category, wrote in a blog post published Thursday that the U.S. Air Force and other defense and civilian agencies can begin using the 2GIT BPA to procure IT products and ancillary services.
The GSA incorporated a cybersecurity approach into the contracting process as part of the agreement.
“Leveraging industry partners that execute solid enterprise supply chain risk management plans as part of a comprehensive Vendor Risk Assessment Program is critical to ensure processes and reporting are in place to reduce the risk of compromise throughout the supply chain, from original equipment manufacturers to distributors and resellers," Stanton said.
Agencies can access offerings under the agreement through the GSA Advantage!, eBuy and Air Force Advantage! websites.
The BPA's special item numbers cover new equipment purchase, maintenance or repair services, software license, software maintenance and order-level materials.
