Aerojet Rocketdyne has reached the 1,000-unit delivery milestone for its propulsion system that powers Lockheed Martin‘s updated version of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missile.

The PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement weapon is powered by a two-pulse solid engine and designed to protect military assets from incoming threats using hit-to-kill technology, Aerojet Rocketdyne said Thursday.

Production of the missile propulsion technology takes place at a factory located in Arkansas.

Aerojet Rocketdyne achieved the milestone as the company builds a new Camden facility that will consolidate its manufacturing operations supporting the PAC-3 MSE program.

Eileen Drake, CEO and president of Aerojet Rocketdyne, said the company aims to increase its production capacity and support future U.S. Army requirements through the new facility.

The rocket engine manufacturer also supplies the lethality enhancer technology and attitude control motors used in the PAC-3 MSE and Cost Reduction Initiative interceptor variants.
