Almost 50 percent of contractors told a joint survey by Apptega and SecureStrux they forecast that completing the Department of Defense's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program would open up new opportunities for business growth.
Data from the CMMC Preparation Study, published Tuesday, showed that two-thirds of participants believe their organizations could build a competitive advantage by accelerating efforts toward achieving CMMC compliance.
Eighty-one of the participants said the program is key to ensure the security of sensitive information across the defense industrial base, according to Apptega and SecureStrux.
Nextgov reported 130 large and small contractors took part in the survey and participating companies were from a list of DOD vendors and the Society of Industrial Security Professionals membership.
