A U.S. subsidiary of Software AG has partnered with MxD to help the latter provide a tool that will allow the Department of Defense to identify risks to its supply chain and minimize potential disruption to manufacturing capabilities during a crisis.
Herndon, Virginia-based Software AG Government Solutions said Thursday it will provide its hybrid integration platform to help MxD deliver a supply chain risk alert tool to DOD.
The tool will enable the Pentagon to analyze public data and map supply chains to detect potential vulnerabilities and disruptions to production capabilities and identify alternate suppliers, foreign dependencies and single source suppliers.
“Supply chain resiliency has long been part of MxD’s mission, but the pandemic gave our work new urgency and focus,” said MxD CEO Chandra Brown.
“Digital technologies, such as Software AG’s webMethods API management and integration platform which is critical to this project, are front and center as we work to improve security, visibility, and flexibility of our manufacturing sector – both to fortify U.S. competitiveness and to prepare for future crises,” Brown added.
MxD is the country’s Digital Manufacturing Institute and the National Center for Cybersecurity in Manufacturing and works with DOD to provide U.S. manufacturers with digital tools, workforce and cybersecurity expertise.
