Raytheon Technologies's intelligence and space business launched a virtual training program in 2020 in an effort to educate participants on how artificial intelligence and machine learning can be applied to the analysis of geospatial intelligence.
The company said Wednesday the AI/ML boot camp aims to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency in its efforts to apply AI, automation and augmentation to its specific initiatives.
The training session covered intelligence data handling, deep learning applications and AI/ML systems development. It ranged from basic to more advanced concepts.
"We were able to put these technologies in the context of the challenges analysts face at any given moment, turning AI into a practical reality," said Frank Tanner, chief engineer for AI and autonomy at Raytheon Intelligence & Space.
John Coogan, a chief scientist at RI&S, noted that 250 analysts joined the training session. The boot camp will be opened several times as the RI&S team plans to train over 1,000 NGA analysts.
