Mercury Systems has introduced a spectrum processing platform designed to expedite the development of signal intelligence, electronic warfare and software-defined radio applications.

The Rappid platform is an open, modular architecture that could help accelerate the deployment of EW technologies and other capabilities and reduce integration costs by enabling system developers to use the same firmware and software on different hardware implementations, the company said Wednesday.

“Swift deployment of new technologies is essential to winning a nation-state competition,” said William Conley, chief technology officer of Mercury Systems.

Conley noted that the Rappid platform supports the national objectives stipulated in the Department of Defense’s 2020 Electromagnetic Spectrum Superiority Strategy and could help DOD upgrade its multimission platforms, counter hostile hypersonic weapons and enable Joint All Domain Command and Control.

Mercury has partnered with the Virginia Tech Hume Center for National Security and Technology and the Jammer Technique Optimization team from Point Mugu Naval Air Station, among other organizations, to advance the use of the Rappid platform to speed up the delivery of mission-critical capabilities.
