Peter Gaynor, former administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, has joined The LiRo Group as a senior vice president and director for the company's newly formed consulting group that will focus on national resilience, response and recovery programs.
He will be responsible for helping government and commercial clients develop comprehensive disaster preparedness plans using innovative and outcome-based approaches, LiRo said Wednesday.
“After leading the response to some of the country’s most devastating disasters and historic pandemic, I look forward to sharing my expertise and knowledge with the LiRo team and clients," Gaynor said.
During his tenure career at FEMA, he spearheaded the agency's response to over 300 presidentially declared emergencies and disasters. He also led the agency through its first-ever operational response to the public health crisis during 2020 and served as a White House Coronavirus Task Force member.
Gaynor spent 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and directed the military branch's global crisis response after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
